Thanks. VMware Workstation 17 Pro is the best choice when running linux on Windows.

I wanted to ask some follow-up questions:

1. Why not run Ubuntu side by side with Windows so that it can run directly on the machine? Did you face any issue while doing this?

2. What's you favorite linux distro?

The reason of not running Ubuntu side by side is that my home workstation isn't super Linux friendly in terms of availability of drivers for my motherboard (ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI), the following devices do not work on it: WiFi, Lan, Bluetooth. I can fix some of the drivers/modules, but that requires loading unsigned kernel modules that requires disabled UEFI/Secure Boot which makes Windows 11 unhappy 😔

My favorite distro is Ubuntu, mostly because of easy installation, maintenance, availability of software and proprietary drivers. It runs quite smoothly on some Lenovo laptops that are Linux friendly.

What is your experience? What distro do you run?

About the dual boot and secure boot, I faced a similar issue.

RAID isn’t supported by linux distros as far as I know.

Have to switch to AHCI so that I can install linux distro.

Secure boot is currently supported by many linux distros. So no issue there. As I don’t play games/softwares that need Windows (or Wine based support), I completely switched to Linux.

It's sad to hear that Asus don't have all the necessary drivers for Linux.

For me, I use Dell laptop (not high end) with Linux Mint.

Before I used Ubuntu, but there was always some buggy graphics/suddenly cpu high or some other abnormal behavior. After I switched to Linux Mint, these buggy behaviors almost gone.

Just want to share that, I am looking forward to buy (in near future) system76 PC or other Linux Powered PC Vendors so that I don't need to face these issues. One thing I worry System76 doesn’t ship to Thailand (my current residence), let’s see what I can do about that.
